French President Macron has said that renegotiating a Brexit deal to scrap the Irish backstop--which British Boris Johnson wants to do--is 'not an option.'

On Wednesday, Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel ramped up pressure on Britain to find a plan, effectively handing Johnson a 30-day deadline to come up with an alternative to the “fallback” Irish backstop and convince the EU of his plan. Johnson said he was “more than happy” with the “blistering timetable,” adding that it would be possible with “sufficient patience.” The two held a joint press conference in Berlin.
