Boris Johnson has warned against relaxing the United Kingdom's coronavirus restrictions too soon in his first remarks since returning to work after contracting the disease
The British Prime Minister, speaking outside 10 Downing Street in London on Monday, said there were real signs that the country was close to winning the first phase of the battle against the coronavirus, which has killed more than 20,000 people in the UK.
"I refuse to throw away all the effort and the sacrifice of the British people and to risk a second major outbreak," he said.Decisions on when and how to lift the lockdown would be taken with"the maximum possible transparency," he promised, addressing criticism that the UK government has so far refused to share its thinking on how restrictions might eventually be lifted.
