In coming years the county will use it to pay for several fixed-route and on-call bus services, including some Boulder-area buses operated by RTD. Others are similar to services previously provided by, which is running about 70% of pre-pandemic service levels, but will use a private operator.
The DRCOG board had delayed a vote on the plan July 20 after some Boulder County officials, including Louisville Mayor Ashley Stolzmann, asked for more local discussions about whether its components would best meet the area’s needs. The plan came back after an early August meeting of the Boulder County Subregional Forum, which recommended approval.
Some new services will be operated via contract with Via Mobility Services, including the new Lyons Flyer. The commuter bus lineinclude RTD’s Longmont-to-Denver buses and its Nederland-to-Boulder NB bus, along with the HOP, JUMP and BOLT local bus routes. The funding also will cover paratransit service for people with disabilities and on-demand service in East Boulder County and Gunbarrel.outlines $5.
Boulder County’s $34 million came from its allocations in last year’s American Rescue Plan Act, based on the populations of three local communities. Normally, CDOT would have passed that money to RTD, as part of $338 million in ARPA transit aid allocations within the agency’s service boundaries.
