The fourth-grader also included $20 that he'd saved up in chore money to help fund the missing display pieces.
A 9-year-old California boy said he was heartbroken when he learned that a thief had stolen parts of a Christmas display from a home.
"The kids loved seeing the lights and we would always go out and find light displays to watch so we decided to take my love of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' with traditional Christmas and make a display that was different and interesting so people would love it," she said. In October, they got a letter from Santiago Macias, 9, asking them to bring their tradition back. The letter included money to help pay to replace the stolen Christmas pieces.
In December 2018, the Jones family of Downey, Calif., were victimized when someone stole some of the Christmas display pieces from their home. They decided they would not decorate this year. The family was so touched by Santiago Macias' note that they brought the decorations back on Dec. 2, 2019, and he was there to see it.The family seemed committed to skipping their annual tradition of decorating for the holidays -- until Oct. 2, when Jones received a letter in the mail.
