The U.K. has narrowly avoided recession, but economic growth has slumped to its lowest annual rate in almost a decade, according to official figures.
An ONS spokesman confirmed: “Looking at the picture over the last year, growth slowed to its lowest rate in almost a decade.” Since 2015 GDP growth in the third quarter has slumped. In 2015 growth was at 2.2%, today’s figure puts it at just 1%. The Trade Union Congress commented:
