ALDBURY, England—The bluebells are about to bloom in nearby woods and the days are getting longer, bringing what is usually peak pub season to this village of about 800 people.
At Tim O’Gorman’s Greyhound Inn, a historic pub and coaching inn next to a duck pond, taps are idle and picnic tables lean against the old brick building. The staff has thinned out and service has been largely reduced to food delivery as this village joins a nationwide abstinence from pubs.
