Extra leave days are available to some couples throughout Europe and Asia - could UK be next?
We've all wanted some extra days of annual leave at some point, but if you lived in a different country which allowed 'wedding leave', more holidays would be coming your way. However, that is not a perk currently available to workers in the UK, but it would seem the majority of Brits are in favour of it.
Hitched reveals that only five per cent of those surveyed in the UK were given additional leave to celebrate their weddings, or honeymoon. While 91 per cent said this was not something their employers offered. Unsurprisingly, two thirds of respondents agree that a marriage leave law should be rolled out in the UK, while 46 per cent would swap out an existing benefit for additional leave options. It's not just Spain and France that offer marriage leave as a perk of employment, with civil servants in the Republic of Ireland also given an extra five days of leave to get married.
