WNBA star Brittney Griner grateful, emotional in first remarks since release from Russian detention
, Griner said her background as a professional athlete helped her find the resilience to get through her 10-month overseas ordeal.
On Thursday, Griner held court for about half an hour at the team’s home arena, the Footprint Center. Attendees included Arizona governor Katie Hobbs, Rep. Greg Stanton’s chief of staff, and members of the Bring Our Families Home campaign, a group dedicated to helping people wrongfully detained overseas.
