Reports indicate that hotel bookings have increased up to 50 times in demand, with some properties raising rates tenfold for the concert period and others by as much as 50%.
While local attendees will fill many seats, a significant portion of the audience is expected to travel from other Asian countries, particularly China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. The soaring accommodation costs have led some fans to explore alternatives such as staying in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, or even sleeping at Changi Airport. This mirrors a similar phenomenon during Swift's concerts, where fans also opted for lodging in Johor Bahru and Batam, Indonesia.
Since BTS tickets went on sale earlier this month and sold out swiftly, online communities have been actively sharing advice on budget travel and lodging in Singapore. Users on platforms like Reddit urge one another to book flights and hotels immediately, warning that prices are unlikely to drop as the event approaches.
In a thread for Filipino travelers, one user mentioned considering a stay in Johor Bahru with an early border crossing on concert day, highlighting a three-night hotel rate of around S$92 as exceptionally affordable compared to Singapore prices. Conversely, another Reddit comment noted that even basic hotels in Singapore's Geylang area were charging S$200 per night for the same period.
The financial strain has also prompted some non-Singaporean ticket holders to resell their tickets after realizing the combined cost of travel and accommodation, sparking frustration among local fans who struggled to secure tickets in the first place. In response to the secondary ticket market activity, the Singapore Police Force issued an advisory on June 6, reiterating that tickets purchased through official channels with Ticketmaster are non-transferable and cannot be resold.
The police warned that individuals attempting to enter the venue with resold tickets will be turned away without a refund. This measure aims to curb profiteering and ensure fairness for genuine fans.
