SINGAPORE - The first day of ticket sales for BTS 's upcoming concert series in Singapore triggered a wave of emotions among fans, ranging from elation to anxiety, as hundreds of thousands queued online for a chance to see the K-pop group perform live at the National Stadium.
The boyband, consisting of members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, is scheduled to hold four shows on December 17, 19, 20, and 22, with each performance starting at 7pm. By 12:05pm on June 3, just minutes after the presale began, at least 74,000 people were waiting in the virtual queue for the December 17 show. The December 19 performance proved to be the most popular, drawing an astonishing 144,000 queued fans.
Meanwhile, more than 91,000 were in line for December 20, and at least 83,000 for the final show on December 22. These numbers illustrate the massive demand for BTS, who have not performed as a full group in Singapore since their Love Yourself tour in January 2019. Fans had been preparing for weeks, studying seat maps and joining Telegram and WhatsApp groups to share tips.
Some even camped outside the stadium to get a glimpse of the venue layout, as shown by an Instagram live-stream from the fan group @btsxsingapore on June 2, which attracted nearly 100 viewers. Among the fortunate few to secure tickets was Ashley Loh, a 22-year-old undergraduate who managed to snag three Category 1 tickets priced at S$328 each around 12:10pm.
Loh, a dedicated fan since 2017, was on holiday in Bangkok but made sure she had a comfortable spot with stable Wi-Fi to participate in the ticket booking. Initially nervous when the Ticketmaster site would not load until 11:58am, her anxiety turned to excitement upon seeing her queue number was 162.
'I am excited to see them live for the first time and perform songs from their earlier days,' she said, adding that she felt relieved not having to resort to resale tickets, which are often marked up significantly. For many other fans, the anxious wait continued. Digital marketer Jade Yee described watching her queue number reduce slowly while constantly checking in with two friends who were also queuing.
'If all else fails, we try again tomorrow and on Friday,' she remarked, reflecting the determination of the BTS Army. The ticketing process required fans to register for the Army Membership Presale on Weverse, which added an extra layer of complexity. Those without membership had to wait for later sales, increasing the overall tension. The concert series is part of BTS's Arirang world tour, which supports their comeback album released in March after all seven members completed mandatory military service.
The tour kicked off in South Korea in April, and this four-night run in Singapore marks their longest tour stop in Asia outside South Korea and Japan. It also represents their first full-group concert in Singapore since their sold-out Love Yourself shows at the same venue in January 2019, which had a total attendance of 40,000 over two nights.
This time, the National Stadium will host four concerts, each with a capacity of around 50,000, meaning over 200,000 tickets are available across the run. Ticket prices range from S$148 to S$388, with the first presale reserved for fans who signed up for the Army Membership Presale on Weverse starting June 3. Additional presales include June 4 from noon to 10pm for Live Nation members, followed by general public sales starting noon on June 5 via ticketmaster.sg.
A Klook sale will also begin at noon on June 5, offering concert bundles from S$207 that include guaranteed tickets paired with a one-night stay at Hotel Michael and admission to local attractions. These bundles are designed to attract tourists and provide a complete experience. With the high demand, authorities have issued warnings about potential scams.
On June 2, the Consumers Association of Singapore and the police released separate advisories urging fans to buy tickets only from official channels and emphasizing that tickets from unauthorized sellers could result in denied entry. The police also noted that purchasing from resellers violates terms of service and may lead to cancellations. Fans have been cautioned against sharing personal information and to verify sellers on reputable platforms.
Despite these warnings, some fans expressed frustration with the ticketing system, citing long wait times and technical glitches. However, for those like Ashley Loh, the effort paid off. The emotional rollercoaster of the ticket sales reflects the immense popularity of BTS in Singapore, where fans have been eagerly awaiting the group's return. The sold-out shows in 2019 set a high bar, and the current demand suggests these December concerts will be equally memorable.
As the sales continue, fans remain hopeful, refreshing their screens and keeping their fingers crossed for a chance to experience the energy of a BTS live performance. The four-night run is expected to draw fans from across Southeast Asia, cementing Singapore as a key stop on the global tour
