This groundbreaking initiative, co-authored by BTS's Suga, also known as Min Yoon-gi, and a research team led by Professor Cheon Keun-ah of Yonsei University College of Medicine's Severance Hospital, represents a significant step in providing therapeutic resources for young people with autism.
The program, detailed within the manual, is rooted in the philosophy of Music, Interaction, Network, and Diversity (MIND), focusing on the transformative power of music to foster social and communication skills in children. Activities are designed to engage children in playing instruments and participating in ensemble sessions. These experiences are structured to build crucial skills such as active listening, turn-taking, and coordination. The book's pre-order availability began with a wider release in bookstores across South Korea on March 19th. The genesis of this project can be traced back to 2024, when Suga and Professor Cheon joined forces, motivated by a shared desire to enhance long-term therapeutic, medical, and social support for children with autism. This collaborative effort culminated in the establishment of the Min Yoongi Centre at Severance Hospital in September 2025. This centre, made possible by Suga’s generous donation of 5 billion won, underscores his commitment to assisting vulnerable groups, and Professor Cheon was appointed the centre’s first director.\The MIND Program book underscores Suga's multifaceted talents, extending beyond his musical career. Suga's involvement in this project included active participation in the planning stages and volunteering as a music instructor in pilot sessions.
