Buhari's rival Atiku says he rejects election results and to mount court challenge in Nigeria
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, 76, is a former military ruler seeking a second term on a platform to reduce corruption.
Supporters of Buhari's All Progressives Congress gathered at his campaign headquarters in the capital, Abuja, to celebrate even before the final results were announced. One obvious red flag was that states in the northeast ravaged by insurgents' attacks generated much higher voter turnouts than peaceful states, Atiku said.
"The new administration will intensify its efforts in security, restructuring the economy and fighting corruption," he told celebrating supporters at the campaign headquarters of his All Progressive Congress party in Abuja.
