The Cleveland area remains under an air-quality advisory Monday night because of smoke from Canadian wildfires.CLEVELAND, Ohio — Smoke from the wildfires in Canada again has settled over Northeast Ohio, pushing the air quality in the Cleveland area to unhealthy levels.
The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency issued an air-quality alert Monday evening for Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit counties, effective until 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. According , the air quality in Cleveland for particulates was at 153 Monday night, which is considered unhealthy.Although the advisory in the Cleveland area ends early Tuesday morning, the air is expected to remain at unhealthy levels Tuesday for sensitive groups such as children, the elderly and people with breathing difficulties. However, the National Weather Service says a cold front Tuesday could blow out some of the smoke.
Ohio is one of 20 states currently under air-quality advisories because of smoke from the wildfires, which has been a recurring problem this summer. In Chicago, the air-quality was considered the fifth-worst in the world on Monday,
