An MP has slammed the ‘unbelievable selfishness’ of 150 people who attended an anti-lockdown protest over the weekend and blamed them for the inevitable extension of Central Coast’s coronavirus restrictions.
Residents in Greater Sydney – which includes the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour – have been subject to stay-at-home orders since June 26 amid an outbreak of the highly contagious Delta strain.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said officials are working on a roadmap out of the latest outbreak and will soon provide an update on what life beyond July 31 will look like, hinting that restrictions could be eased in areas with less risk. “I spoke to the Premier yesterday and she will end the Central Coast’s lockdown as soon as it is safe to do so.”He also thanked the majority of residents on the Central Coast for following the stay-at-home orders.
