Channing Tatum is set to lead David Leitch's new spy thriller, Red Shirt, for Amazon Studios. With roles in Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street, and The Hateful Eight, Tatum has become a veritable household name in Hollywood. This past summer, he cameoed as a train passenger in Bullet Train, directed by Leitch, and debuted to mixed reviews, but was still a box-office success.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Deadline reports that, following a fierce bidding war, Amazon Studios had acquired Red Shirt, which will star Tatum, be directed by Leitch, and is based on an original pitch by Dark Phoenix writer Simon Kinberg. Plot details for Red Shirt remain under wraps, though it is being described as an international spy thriller.
With multiple roles lined up, the Channing Tatum renaissance will continue well into next year as he returns to one of his most famous roles in Magic Mike's Last Dance to complete the trilogy. Tatum has also completed production on Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut P Island and is currently filming a space race movie, Project Artemis, alongside Scarlett Johansson. Now, Red Shirt can be added to Tatum's long list of upcoming projects.
With Tatum on board, Red Shirt will be yet another star-studded action thriller for Leitch. The Hollywood stuntman-turned-filmmaker has directed everyone from Keanu Reeves in John Wick, Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde, Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 2, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and Brad Pitt in Bullet Train. Now, Leitch has a new muse in Tatum to lead his highly sought-after spy thriller, Red Shirt, for Amazon Studios.
