Home Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam predicts increased property values in Chong Pang and Nee Soon Central due to the new integrated development. The $1.8 billion project, set to be completed in 2027, will feature amenities such as a community club, hawker center, market, swimming pools, and a supermarket.
The new Chong Pang integrated development, slated for completion in 2027, is projected to increase property values in and around the ward, situated within Nee Soon Group Representation Constituency (GRC), according to Home Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam .
Speaking at the My Nee Soon carnival and exhibition on Saturday (Feb 15), Mr Shanmugam highlighted the significant transformation of the constituency over the years, citing improvements in transportation, environmental sustainability, and healthcare facilities. Plans for the integrated development were first unveiled in September 2020, with a groundbreaking ceremony held in March 2023. The development, set to be finished in 2027, will encompass the Chong Pang Community Club, Chong Pang Hawker Centre and Market, swimming pools, a supermarket, and a range of other amenities. 'Property values will go up nearby, not just Chong Pang but also Nee Soon Central,' said Mr Shanmugam, who oversees the Chong Pang division. He further emphasized ongoing efforts to establish Nee Soon as the 'healthcare hub of the north.' 'You have Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, you have two polyclinics, two or three community wellness kampungs, and we are trying to make Nee Soon a dementia-friendly town, with bigger signboards, easier for older people,' he said. At the My Nee Soon exhibition, residents enjoyed immersive experiences, including mapping out their vision for the constituency in the coming year and exploring its landmarks through an interactive map. Derrick Goh, Nee Soon Town Council chairman and MP for Nee Soon GRC, highlighted the initiative to install solar panels on the rooftops of all HDB flats within the constituency as a key sustainability measure. 'We are trying to make Nee Soon a dementia-friendly town, with bigger signboards, easier for older people,' he said. He added that there are plans to sell the energy generated from the solar panels back to the national grid. Besides the Chong Pang integrated development, the exhibition showcased other infrastructure projects, such as the upcoming Nee Soon Link Community Club and new Build-to-Order estates. It also highlighted improvements in connectivity for the constituency, including new bus services and solutions to address traffic flow issues at Yishun Dam. Saturday's event marked the second stop of the roving exhibition, which began in Nee Soon East last month. It will proceed to the remaining three wards within the constituency
