Chris Buescher wins flat tire-marred Bristol Night Race.
Today's Bristol night race was not quite the tire catastrophe NASCAR once saw at the 2008 Brickyard 400, but it was a nice modern interpretation of the problem. A dozen or so times tonight, cars suffered sudden flat tires that derailed their days and the race. The final caution of the day came out when Christopher Bell suffered one from the lead, opening the door for one last bit of strategy for anyone bold enough to risk a puncture in the closing stint.
Buescher's win is the second of his career, but, crucially, it is the first earned in a full-length race. Buescher's earlier win was at Pocono while he was on loan to Front Row Motorsports, a race he and the team won solely by choosing to stay out just before a long delay for fog that would eventually end the race early.
