On 2/25/19 at 6:56 PMCNN host Jake Tapper on Monday mocked U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for acting as a “Trump-to-English interpreter” on North Korea., Tapper confronted Pompeo about a tweet Trump posted claiming there was “no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea.”
“That’s not what he said,” Pompeo argued. “What he said was the efforts made in Singapore, this commitment that Chairman Kim made, have substantially taken down the risk to the American people. It’s the mission of the secretary of state and the President of the United States to keep American people secure. We’re aiming to achieve that.”On Monday, Tapper ran the clip again as he discussed the upcoming summit in Hanoi, Vietnam, with a panel on CNN’s.
“As part of a bold new diplomacy, we continue our historic push for peace on the Korean Peninsula. Our hostages have come home, nuclear testing has stopped, and there has not been a missile launch in 15 months,” the president said.
