The Chaparrals faced their toughest opponent yet and had one of their best games of the season. Head coach Zachary Criss said he was proud of the team’s fight.

Boone carries the ball for the Chapparals during a high school football game against Colleyville Heritage at Clark Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas Thursday, November 2, 2023.Colleyville Heritage hoped to end their district play undefeated. O.D. Wyatt hoped to gain momentum heading into the playoffs. Both coaches knew this game could help their teams get prepared for the postseason.

“Anytime you play the game, and you can go 9-1 in the state of Texas playing high school football it is a testament to these kids and the work to do all the little things we’ve asked them to do,” Edwards said. The Chaparrals’ practice leading into this game paid off. Not even thirty seconds into the game, Wyatt scored the first touchdown of the evening. Quarterback Anthani Harrison connected with wide receiver Jeremiah Boone who ran from near Wyatt’s end zone all the way down the field to score a touchdown with 11:45 left in the first quarter.

“I am really proud of these guys and how they came out and played hard,” Criss said. “Can’t be any prouder of anybody than I am of them.”
