Personal finance expert 'The Budgetnista' shares 2 common money mistakes holding people back from building wealth
After Aliche lost her job in her late 20s, she fell into the habit of spending what she didn't have, she admitted:"It took me a while to acknowledge the fact that I didn't have any money coming in. I still had the cable going. I was still eating out. I just thought things would turn around."
If you're struggling to tackle your debt or save for your first home, changing your financial situation might feel impossible. The key is to start small, she said, with something as simple as listening to a podcast about money management or reviewing your credit card statements. One of the first steps she took was doing a balance transfer, when you move your credit card debt from one card to another.
These smaller, initial steps she took led to bigger ones, like focusing on increasing her income in order to pay down her debt faster.
