The revised guidelines, slated for implementation by the end of 2026, are projected to boost annual salaries by roughly 7 percent or even higher.
To alleviate the financial burden on these organizations, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will allocate an initial $100 million in funding. This financial commitment underscores the government's dedication to supporting the community care sector and recognizing the invaluable contributions of its workforce. Mr. Ong emphasized that this pay raise complements the previously announced increase in the maximum subsidy for residential long-term care, which will rise to 80 percent for Singapore citizens and 50 percent for permanent residents by July 2026. During his visits to Alexandra Hospital and St Luke's Hospital, Mr. Ong engaged with patients and staff, distributing oranges as a gesture of goodwill. He also participated in a lohei session with hospital staff, a traditional Chinese New Year activity that symbolizes prosperity and good fortune. At Alexandra Hospital, Mr. Ong observed two wards where advanced technologies, including remote monitoring cameras and wearable devices, are being trialed. These technologies facilitate virtual patient monitoring, enhancing the quality and efficiency of care. Furthermore, he received updates on the hospital's redevelopment plans, with the revamped hospital scheduled to reopen progressively from 2028, ensuring that key hospital services remain operational throughout the construction phase. To prepare the workforce for the redevelopment, services and operations will be gradually scaled up, allowing teams to refine workflows and optimize clinical processes as the hospital expands its capacity and capabilities
