Investigators soon learned from witnesses that the collision happened after a tan Mercury Mystique driving westbound on Sycamore Drive was waiting to turn left onto Manzanita. Moments later, a red Chevrolet Impala drove out of Sycamore Square onto Sycamore Drive at high speed and tried to drive around the Mercury on its left as it turned onto Manzanita.
The Chevrolet’s driver was life-flighted to a hospital after suffering serious injury, while the Mercury’s driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution, police said. Reeves was in custody Tuesday evening at Martinez county jail on $390,000 bail, and faces arraignment Wednesday at Martinez Superior Court, according to a county records check.
