The rapper known for the ’90s hit “Gangsta’s Paradise” died Sept. 28 at the age of 59.

The “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper also had traces of heroin and methamphetamines in his system at the time of his death, said his longtime manager, Jarel “Jarez” Posey. Posey added that investigators determined Coolio’s severe asthma and decades-long cigarette smoking habit were factors in his Sept. 28 death.Coolio, whose legal name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was found dead on his friend’s bathroom floor in LA, Posey told reporters at the time. It wasCoolio performs at Riot Fest in Chicago on Sept. 18, 2022, one of the final performances before his death.
His other hits include 1994’s “Fantastic Voyage,” which peaked at No. 3, and “1,2,3,4 ” and “It’s All the Way Live .” He is survived by his six children and ex-wife, Josefa Salina, whom he married in 1996. The couple split in 2000.
