The 52-year-old man was struck on Route 66 in Neptune Township on Tuesday night.
Christopher Mattern, 52, was riding an Ecotric Starfish electric bicycle south on Neptune Boulevard in Neptune Township when he collided with a car traveling east on Route 66 through the intersection, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Mattern, who resided in the Wanamassa section of neighboring Ocean Township, died of his injuries at an area hospital about three hours after being struck around 10 p.m. Tuesday. The 33-year-old woman driving the car stopped and spoke with police, authorities said.
