Kluber, 37, recently completed his minor league rehabilitation for a right shoulder injury sustained earlier this season. He has not pitched for the Red Sox since June 20 against the New York Yankees. The two-time Cy Young Award winner was scheduled to pitch three innings for the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox on Saturday, but the team instead opted to shut him down. Kluber’s last pitching appearance this season came with Worcester on Sept. 12, when he tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out two.
