Although it’s only his first camp with the organization, Geekie comes in with high expectations and mystery. The 18-year-old was selected 11th overall in this year’s draft after the Coyotes traded up for him. “For me, it was almost, hard work does get somewhere. I think for probably about a week, I didn’t know when I was going to come back and I kept working on it, trying to move it as much as I could. It wasn’t too long. It goes to show that having patience and trusting what my resources have, it always pays off,” Geekie said. Fortunately for Geekie, the upcoming tournament featuring five other NHL teams will be a better test of where he matches up against other emerging prospects.
