Despite clear warnings about a crocodile sighting, two men were seen dangerously close to the water's edge at Yishun Dam, prompting concern from a member of the public.

Advisory signs have been put up around Yishun Dam to warn the public about crocodiles, but not everyone is paying heed. A concerned citizen, Azim, took to social media to highlight a potential danger. He shared photos he took on January 11th, around 7.10pm, showing two men hanging out near the waters off Yishun Dam. At least one of the men was standing at the edge of the water, seemingly oblivious to the warnings.

Both men were clad in plastic ponchos and appeared to have umbrellas and a bicycle with them. Azim expressed his worry, stating, 'These two individuals were loitering dangerously close to where a crocodile was spotted even though it was drizzling. If something were to happen, everyone would start blaming the wildlife creatures. But in this case, what the men are doing is ridiculously stupid.' Azim's concerns are valid as the National Parks Board (NParks) has confirmed a crocodile sighting in the area. A group director of wildlife management at NParks, How Choon Beng, stated, 'We are monitoring the sighting and have placed advisory signs around the area to warn the public to stay away from the water's edge. We have also shared advisories with kayaking operators and stakeholders to stay clear of the waters.'The NParks has urged the public to exercise caution and avoid any interaction with the crocodile. Members of the public should not approach, provoke or feed crocodiles. Any such encounters can be reported to NParks at 1800-476-1600
