HAVANA: Cubans went to the polls on Sunday to vote in a landmark referendum on whether to legalise same-sex marriage and adoption, allow surrogate pregnancies and give greater rights to non-biological parents.

Cubans aged 16 and over are being asked to vote simply"Yes" or"No" to the question:"Do you agree with the Family Code?" But the referendum comes amid the country's worst economic crisis in 30 years and could provide an opportunity for some voters to voice opposition to the government.
