Although there were not many bright spots for the Broncos in Week 11, one was a continuation of a trend: Damarri Mathis is becoming a weekly contributor. BroncosCountry
Mathis’ ascension has been fascinating to witness. In Week 4, Mathis played just three defensive snaps . From Week 6 onward, Mathis has played every single defensive snap for defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero’s defense. That equals a string of 352 consecutive defensive snaps for Mathis. It represents quite the turnaround. Mathis has earned the full trust of Denver’s coaching staff.
Mathis caught the attention of NFL decision-makers with a terrific senior season as a Pitt Panther in 2021. Mathis recorded career highs in tackles , interceptions , and defensive touchdowns last season. Mathis departed the program with 18 career pass breakups under his belt. He’s already flashed that knack for getting his hands on the football in the professional ranks.
