A group of employees want Nike’s childcare program to stay inside its Oregon-based campus

More than 500 families are on the waitlist for Nike's in-house day care program. : Nike’s proposal to expand its subsidized day care program hasn’t gone as planned. A group of employees are upset that Nike, in an effort to offer the service to more families, will move its childcare program from its campus and put a separate private company in charge of care.

1,300 employees have signed a petition against a plan to close Nike’s on-campus day care program and open a new facility run by a private company ten minutes away, according toEmployees raised concerns that the 100 teachers and caregivers who currently work at the company’s in-house day care program would be out of a job. But Sandra Carreon-John, a Nike spokeswoman, said that all of them will be offered positions at the new facility.
