The Marine Mammal Stranding Center said Wednesday the humpback whale was about a half-mile off Seaside Park as of 1 p.m.

Seaside Park police said earlier Wednesday that a deceased whale was about a half-mile off the L Street Beach.About a dozen onlookers gathered at the M Street Beach in Seaside Park to see the carcass as it drifted north.
“It looks like it’s pushed out from where it was earlier today,” said Tricia DeVoe, a naturalist from Belmar who went to the beach Wednesday.It’s unclear how many whales have been reported floating out on the ocean in that span.
