A series of Democratic attorneys general are calling on federal regulators to issue mandatory standards for natural gas-powered stoves to protect public health.
During an appearance on "Hannity", Jimmy Failla shares his thoughts on lawmakers in New York State passing a bill that bans natural gas in new buildings.
"I urge the CPSC to develop uniform performance and ventilation standards for gas stoves and to increase consumer awareness about the health risks these appliances pose," he added.Schwalb's letter argued that the CPSC should adopt voluntary standards or mandatory regulationsthat"degrade indoor air quality" in homes nationwide.
While the attorneys general floated the possibility of addressing health concerns through voluntary standards supported by industry, they later argued such an action may lead to"inadequate standards that will not protect against the health risks to consumers." Instead, they said the CPSC should initiate a rulemaking to develop mandatory gas stoves standards.
