The event will feature roughly 150 guests at the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach, which is a roughly eight-minute drive from Mar-a-Lago, showcasing DeSantis's efforts to court donors and critical support as he mulls a presidential run, a source told Reuters.On Thursday, a day prior to the DeSantis donor retreat, former President Donald Trump is slated to attend a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, which is located in the same island town.
Polls have widely deemed DeSantis to be Trump's chief GOP foe in his quest for the Republican nod. The Florida governor has suggested that his 2024 announcement will come after the Florida legislative session. DeSantis is set to attend fundraisers in Alabama, California, and Texas. He also positioned himself as a crusader against"wokeism" by championing policy in education meant to clamp down on classroom instruction on matters such as gender that he deems excessive for children.
