Yes, I know, I know, it’s extremely early, just day two here. And there is usually something of a honeymoon period with new Destiny 2 seasons. But I feel like sometimes you can just…tell
when a season is going to be better than usual, and that’s the vibe I’m getting here. I’ll just do a line list of what’s impressing me so far:
I absolutely love the core concept in a way I didn’t really care about Sloane and her sea worm or Amanda Holliday and her explosions. The idea that to kill Xivu Arath, we are not actually resurrecting Savathun, we are powering up Eris, who has morphed into a Hive version of herself, to essentially ascend into being a Hive god on the same level of Savathun and Xivu. Temporarily. Maybe.
I am enjoying both seasonal activities so far. Three-man activities are better than six-man these days, as evidenced by Season of the Deep’s Salvage, which you could tellwas not going to be good. Nor are these like Deep Dives which took weeks to actually spool up, and ended up having all sorts of mixed goal problems by the end. Hopefully that won’t happen here, but both activities are fun. Savathun’s Spire is kind of a randomized strike, and Altars is sort of Hive Sundial.
