A school bus carrying dozens of students and teachers caught fire on the outskirts of Bangkok on Oct 1. At least 23 people, mostly children, were killed in the inferno. The bus was traveling from a school in Uthai Thani province to a science museum in Bangkok when one of its tyres burst, causing it to crash and catch fire.

The victims’ bodies were so badly burned that officials were unable to quickly give a precise death toll. “We are investigating all individuals, including the bus company, to see if this was a case of negligence.”
