White House trade adviser Peter Navarro took his reported dispute with the nation's top infectious disease expert out of the situation room and onto cable news

Navarro, who is leading the administration's efforts to purchase and distribute emergency supplies under the Defense Production Act, acknowledged that he was "not the arbiter" of the hydroxychloroquine debate. But he also insisted that there were "a lot of doctors out there who are on one side, and there's a lot of doctors on the other side" of the issue.

Navarro noted that "as a social scientist," he would normally concur with Fauci's calls for more controlled, randomized studies of the drug, but "in the fog of war, we might take more risks than we otherwise would." "I hope they use it because I'll tell you what: What do you have to lose?" Trump said Saturday at the White House task force's daily news conference, appealing to Covid-19 patients. "In some cases, they’re in bad shape. What do you have to lose?"
