The Dodgers remain one of the most serious candidates to acquire Nationals outfielder Juan Soto while also pursuing Marlins starter Pablo Lopez. The trade deadline is Tuesday at 3 p.m. PT.

They traded Triple-A left-hander Garrett Cleavinger to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for minor-league outfielder German Tapia. Most significantly, the trade clears a spot on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, giving them the ability to add another player before the deadline or activate one of the rehabbing players currently on the 60-day injured list .
