The flat she bought at age 25 for $253,000 will be worth about $149,000 when she passes away at age 85. From a financial standpoint, this flat may seem unattractive for one child to buy over the shares from the other to live in it because the price of that particular HDB flat will dramatically drop in line with flats which have 40 years of lease left.There are several government policy restrictions which suppresses the attractiveness of older HDB flats for buyers.
