The delays are contingent upon additional sampling, with results expected later this week.
The earliest the delays could be removed would be Friday, just before the recreational season opens.
Over the summer, a toxic algae bloom caused domoic acid poisoning in hundreds of sea lions and dolphins, overwhelming marine rescue centers in Los Angeles and Orange counties with sick animals State and federal laws prohibit the commercial distribution of seafood products that contain domoic acid levels above the federally mandated threshold, which is 20 parts per million in the viscera of spiny lobster.
