Don Bosco Prep's 45-0 loss to rival Bergen Catholic is still being talked about. Don Bosco isn't hiding away from it and is using it as motivation heading into the 2023 season
Logan Bush of Don Bosco Prep finds a hole as he heads up field during the football game between No. 1 Don Bosco Prep and No. 2 St. Peter’s Prep at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ on Friday, September 30, 2022.It’s something that Don Bosco Prep isn’t hiding from.
The loss has been hanging over the program since November, but the program hasn’t shied away from talking about it, and how could they? “Every day, it’s up in the weight room: 45-0. So it’s just something quick to look at while we’re working out just to remind us not to take this play off. Just keep going whenever you’re tired.”
He told them to use it as motivation to get back to MetLife Stadium this year, and they’ve talked about the burning desire to win a state championship this season. The quarterback battle all summer was between Charlie LaMorte and Deven Sisler, a transfer from Central Regional High School. But LaMorte has transferred to West Orange High School,If it’s Sisler who takes the first snap against Archbishop Spalding, you can bet he’ll be throwing the ball a lot to senior wide receiver Bobby Mays and handing it off to senior running back Logan Bush, who emerged as a breakout player for the Ironmen last season, rushing for 1,319 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Senior linebacker Jayden Brown, a Syracuse pledge, is also back, while junior defensive back Marquet Dorsey Jr. has been racking up offers lately. Freshman safety Mikai Allen has been turning heads during practices and in scrimmages against Red Bank Catholic and Delbarton and figures to be among the top players on defense this season.
