Pennsylvania's GOP governor nominee gets a boost from Republican royalty.
Republican governor candidate Doug Mastriano campaigns with Donald Trump Jr.CHAMBERSBURG - Donald Trump Jr., to some the crown prince of the Republican Party, called life in America at a tipping point and prevailed on conservatives in Pennsylvania to do something about it by voting for Republicans this fall.
Truth be known, that part of the evening was as important as the speeches for a Mastriano campaign that, as of late this week, still had not managed to buy any television advertisement time in any market in the state. Democratic nominee Josh Shapiro’s advertising spend, by contrast, is $16.7 million on broadcast and cable networks to date, with advance bookings for $9.2 million more.
“If you were an enemy of this country and you somehow hacked the country to try to destroy it, what would you do differently than the Democratic Party is doing to us right now?” Trump asked at one point in his 40-minute speech in which he blamed Democrats for high inflation, public school systems that seek to indoctrinate school children with ‘woke’ ideals, wrong-headed energy policies and a politicized Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“You’ve seen how important the governorships are. You’ve seen how much of a disaster it can be. Your state is like a meme in terms of leadership over the last - I mean you could make a joke about it -and yet essentially the same people that were in charge could be again. And more radical. And further left,” he said.
