“Would you ever just decouple, not do business with China? Because, you know, we don’t have to,” Trump said.

US President Donald Trump says America would decouple from China if “they don’t treat us right”, as a planned review of the phase one trade deal the two sides agreed in January remains on hold.

“Would you ever just decouple, not do business with China? Because, you know, we don’t have to,” he said. Trump also said he personally called off the talks planned for last week to review the progress of the interim deal designed to bring an end to a trade war that has been going on since July 2018. China’s commerce ministry said last week the trade talks would take place in the coming days, but neither Beijing or Washington has confirmed that.
