Schmigadoon star Dove Cameron is killing it in the world of pop music, but musical theater keeps pulling her back in. Here's why:
Schmigadoon! season 2 sees its two New Yorker leads hoping to return to the charming town of Schmigadoon, but the series quickly changes things up. The first season’s small town straight out of the 1940s and '50s, and its musicals have been replaced with the darker, grittier Schmicago. The music in Schmigadoon! has changed to fit the new look, this time around riffing on the popular musicals of the 1960s and '70s.
Cameron and Tveit spoke with Screen Rant about their new roles in season 2, moving through various musical mediums, and more. I think both of those mediums move people like Aaron and myself, and so I've been lucky enough that I get to do all of it so far, until the day comes where I'm truly on my last leg. The only conflict is really that it just requires way more hours in the day than there are. But musical theater is my first love, it always will be, and I'm lucky enough to be a part of the show.
Dove Cameron: I just have to say really quickly before we move on that I think Aaron is a comedy genius, and I didn't get to spend any time with him in season one. It was almost like we never met because we were quarantined. Being able to watch you do your thing up close this season was incredible. He's a genius.
