PUTRAJAYA: The government wants to see the RM19bil GST refund, despite the Public Accounts Committee saying that the money is not stolen, says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The Prime Minister said if it is true that the money is not missing, then the government wants to know where it is.
"If we can find it, then it is not missing. If we cannot find, then it is missing," he said after chairing the Bersatu supreme council meeting on Monday . Earlier, the PAC, in its report tabled in Parliament, concluded that the previous government had not"robbed" the RM19bil, as alleged by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
The report said that the shortfall was due to an overestimation of net GST receipts by about 65% under the previous government.
