BREAKING: The U.S. Supreme Court is poised to overturn abortion after a draft opinion leaked.
After oral arguments in the Mississippi case were held in December, four other justices -- Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett -- voted along with Alito indicating they would uphold the law, meaning a majority of the court has voted to overturn abortion rights.must be overruled,” Alito writes in the draft, referring to the landmark ruling and the 1992 case affirming the right to an abortion.
Also unclear is whether Roberts will issue his own opinion, concur with Alito’s draft or sign on to the dissenting opinion being crafted by the court’s liberal wing -- Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, according to the outlet. The Alabama congressman noted that if the court ultimately overturns Roe v. Wade it will not make abortion illegal but instead allow each state to decide whether to legalize abortion rights.
