The oddball crime drama 'Fargo' will be shown Monday. Other films in the series include 'No Country for Old Men.'
During the series, four related films will be shown each Monday of a given month; a different set of four films will be chosen each month.“Some of are going to be more distant past, some of them are going to be more recent,” said Drexel director Jeremy Henthorn, noting that a particular month’s films may highlight a specific theme or a particular actor, cinematographer or director .
Henthorn said that screening classic films helps theater leaders offset uncertainty about the timing of new releases after the pandemic. “You’ll think that is coming and then it gets delayed, or it gets moved,” he said. “Hollywood is still trying to figure out that new marketplace.” By regularly showing classic films, he added, “We’re not at the whim of studios changing their release schedules.”“Some of our most popular screenings were actually repertory screenings,” said Henthorn, pointing to series at the theatre focusing on martial-arts and monster movies.
