FORMER Calauan, Laguna mayor Antonio Sanchez violated the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) law that is why he cannot be freed from jail
According to Bureau of Corrections , Republic Act 10592 or the Good Conduct Time Allowance law will allow the release of about 11,000 from the National Bilibid Prison for good behavior.In a phone patch interview over radio dzMM on Friday, Drilon said, “Disqualified po si Mayor Antonio Sanchez dahil wala naman siyang good behavior na pinakita.
Sanchez was convicted in 1995 for the rape and murder of 21-year-old student Mary Eileen Sarmenta and the murder of her boyfriend, Allan Gomez in 1993. In citing the law, Drilon said it was clear that there should be “faithful obedience to all prison and jail rules and regulations.”Sanchez was also charged with possession of illegal drugs, which were seized in his possession in 2006.
He was also found with P1.5 million worth of “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride, which he hid inside the statue of the Virgin Mary in 2010.
