A cold front will bring a chance for rain on Thursday.
INDIANAPOLIS — It's going to be a dry and unseasonably warm start to October as a ridge of high pressure will control the weather pattern. Highs through the middle of next week will be in the middle 80s, running about 10 to 15 degrees above average. While record warmth is not expected, it will be close, especially on Wednesday with highs in the upper 80s. The daily record for Wednesday is 90, set in 1951.
While portions of central Indiana picked up on rainfall earlier this week, it was an abnormally dry September, especially for Indianapolis. The latest drought monitor report shows the majority of Indiana is under a moderate drought. For the month, Indy received 1.60" of rain, 1.54" below average. 1.41" of that total rainfall fell on Sept. 27. Changes in the upper level pattern will arrive later next week, bringing big changes.
