The deal, worth $49 million, avoids arbitration and will keep the two-time All-Star right wing in Anaheim through the 2029-30 season
The Ducks are giving Troy Terry a well-deserved show of trust.
The team has agreed to terms with right wing Troy Terry on a seven-year contract extension worth $49 million, with an annual average value of $7 million, that will avoid arbitration and keep him in Anaheim through the 2029-30 NHL season. Terry, 25, is coming off back-to-back 60-point seasons. He racked up 23 goals and a career-high 38 assists last season – both ranking second on the Ducks – in 70 games while making his second consecutive NHL All-Star Game.
Last season, Terry was named one of three alternate captains, with Adam Henrique out with an injury, calling it ““We’re not only trying to develop hockey players here, but we’re trying to develop leaders as well and he’s doing a fabulous job at that,” Eakins said. In 2021-22, Terry led the Ducks with 67 points and 37 goals, joining Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, Corey Perry and Bobby Ryan as the only players in franchise history with at least 35 goals. Terry also added 30 assists, eight power-play goals and seven game-winning goals in a career-best 75 games. The 6-0, 185-pound forward from Denver was selected by the Ducks in the fifth round of the 2015 draft and made his NHL debut with Anaheim on March 27, 2018.
