The two candidates vying to be the next DuPage County Board chairman, Republican Greg Hart and Democrat Deb Conroy, were locked in a race to decide who will succeed longtime DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin.

At stake is who will be the chair of the 19-person board, all of whose members are up for reelection due to redistricting. Cronin, 63, chose not to seek reelection and is retiring in December after 12 years as board chairman.The race was too close to call at 9:45 p.m. Conroy was leading with 51% of the votes over Hart, who trailed with 49%, with 95% of precincts reporting according to the Associated Press.
